Books4Exchange.com does charge a small fee upfront for the service, roughly 10% of your asking price (the minimum listing fee is $1.99). The 10% fee and any additional optional listing fees are non-refundable. Currently we are only accepting credit cards for this transaction. In the final step of the process for posting a book, you are required to enter a credit card number. At the moment, you must enter a credit card number to complete the process of posting a book advertisement. We are exploring alternative means of payment for those customers who do not have access to a credit card. We changed the site for two reasons. We wanted to improve upon the existing site and create a transaction-based site that made selling and buying books extremely easy for students. We also wanted to implement advanced searching techniques to make it easy for students to find books. Our research indicates that Books4Exchange.com offers the least expensive option for selling used textbooks to a broad market. As a free site we would not have been able to sustain the services and options we offer. Once book ads have been placed on Books4Exchange.com, they remain on the site for one year, or until they are sold. People who have books to sell come to Books4Exchange.com. Once they have a (free) membership to the site, they use a series of forms to enter in their contact and book information, including book title, ISBN number, etc. On the final step, the seller is asked to enter a credit card number to cover a fee of 10% (the minimum listing fee is $1.99) of the book's asking price. This fee is collected by Books4Exchange.com as soon as the ad is posted. Book buyers come to the site, become members and then perform searches by title, author, ISBN, or browse books by school. Once a book buyer has found a book they want to buy, they contact the bookseller using the contact form provided with the book listing. The book buyer and bookseller negotiate and then arrange a place to meet or a method of shipping to exchange the book(s) for payment. You may lower your asking price. You may not raise it. Just like a classified ad in a newspaper, Books4Exchange is only responsible for posting your advertisement on the Web site. Other details, such as shipping, are up to the buyer and seller to arrange between themselves. Just like a classified ad in a newspaper, Books4Exchange is only responsible for posting your advertisement on the Web site. If you feel that you have purchased goods that are not worth their asking price, then you must contact the seller of the book to resolve the matter. We can investigate the issue and contact the bookseller on your behalf to voice your complaints, but we cannot force the resolution of a conflict between a bookseller and a book buyer. It is in the best interest of the bookseller to be fair, because we have a bookseller rating system where booksellers are evaluated by book buyers and the results are made available on the Books4Exhange.com Web site. If we receive enough complaints about any single bookseller, we may take action, such as banning the bookseller from the site. As a member of Books4Exchange, you are entitled to 20 free postings. You can redeem your credits by using the "Use your credit" button in Step Four of the posting process or your "Ready for checkout listings". |
